Linfield have led tributes to a fan who collapsed and died during their Europa League clash against Cork City on Thursday night.

The stadium's medics and a doctor are understood to have rushed to the man's aid during the game against Cork City, but he tragically passed away.

"The sympathy and condolences of everyone at Linfield FC are extended to the family and friends of the Linfield supporter who sadly passed away during tonight's Europa League game at Windsor Park," read a Linfield statement.

"Further details will be provided when they are known."

Players took to social media to pay tribute, including striker and captain Andy Waterworth and goalkeeper Gareth Deane.



Cork City won the encounter 1-0 thanks to a 63rd-minute penalty from Sean Maguire.
