Former Linfield captain Michael Gault has signed a pre-contract with current champions Crusaders.
The 32-year-old will move this summer when his contract at Shamrock Park expires, and has signed a two-year deal with Stephen Baxter's men.
Portadown recently signed Philip Lowry, following his departure from Derry City, however striker Darren Murray has left for Cliftonville and Chris Casement is linked to a move back to Linfield.
However, the Crues have now added Gault to Ballymena's David Cushley to the summer arrivals later this year.
“There were four or five clubs interested in Michael, so we are delighted to get him,” Baxter said.
“He is a vastly experienced player who brings a lot to the table. He is a leader and he is still hungry to succeed and win trophies.
“It is that winning mentality that you want at any club, and Michael has won everything there is.
“He is 32, but he could play for another few years. He still has that hunger and desire, so he is a very positive addition.”
