Dundela have appointed former Crusaders and Glentoran midfield Darren Lockhart as their new manager, following the departure of Mark Snodden.

41-year-old Lockhart had a decorated playing career in the top flight of Northern Irish football, but his only previous management experience was at Amateur League side Sirocco Works.

Lockhart won two league championships and three Irish Cup medals during a distinguished playing career at Glentoran, while he also represented HW Welders, Carrick Rangers, Crusaders, Bangor, Ballymena United and Ards.

The outgoing Snodden departed after the club ended a hugely disappointing season with a 1-0 loss at champions Carrick Rangers, though the Duns relegation was sealed two weeks previously.

That ended Snodden's 27-year association at the club, and marked a fall from grace for the Wilgar Park side who had impressed the previous campaign including a Steel and Sons Cup victory.
